  Bills' Prospects Rival Franchise Worsts

Buffalo Bills Bills' Prospects Rival Franchise Worsts

After the Polian era, Marv Levy, quick to prove that he was the far lesser ingredient in the Bills' '90s era formula for success, methodically ran the team into the ground leaving it with a 6-10 record with a lackluster 33-31 record that included two losing seasons after Polian's direct influence had been rinsed out.  Then in came Wade Phillips who ironically holds the standard for post-Polian era performance of the Bills by a wide margin having brought the Bills to 10-6, 11-5, and 8-8 seasons.  Then Ralph Wilson single-handedly and for the duration of his tenure as Bills' owner, sent the Bills', his organization and business, into a downward spiral that will not recover on his watch.

Wilson's big idea was to bring in media man Tom Donahoe who promptly ushered in the Donadope era.  The fruits thereof were Gregg Williams who left the team at 6-10 after three seasons, with a Donadope era encore by Mike Mularkey who handed the keys to Levy and Jauron with the tank at 5-11 and emptier than when he got it from Williams.  Levy in his "future is now" vision of the then recent past then had the brain storm to not hire a completely unproven head coach, but one proven in failures, and turned generating abject failure into a science as Jauron simply reinforced his pattern of failure and losing while leaving the Bills with the tank half empty at 6-10 as well.

So where does that leave the Bills?  What do they have to build on?

Buffalo Bills Lines?  We Don't Need No Stinking Lines!

The future is now!  The bold statement made by Marv Levy upon getting the GM job rings true now.  The 2009 version of the Bills is the fruits of a decade's worth of work by a front office no more suited to running a football team than they are owning and operating a restaurant franchise.  The work is now complete.  In spite of their five wins, two of which practically by accident, there is little room for this team to regress further.

If You're the Colts, Why Not Simply Forfeit!

NFL Analysis If You're the Colts, Why Not Simply Forfeit!

I lost whatever respect that I had for Colts' coach Jim Caldwell yesterday in their loss to the Jets to set their record at 14-1 and ruin a good chance at a perfect regular season, but also a very likely one at that with a win over the Jets.  Since when did intentionally losing become a good thing in sports?

Buffalo Bills Do Fans Have Anything to Look Forward To?

OK, so hope reigns supreme once again in Buffalo as fans await news of a new coaching hire.  Which decent and self-respecting coach however will take this job if the front office remains in tact?  That would be the same front office that overstepped Orakpo to select Maybin in this past draft, not to mention vacuous trade-ups in past drafts fo players such as Losman or McCargo, or the same front office that signed free agents like Dockery to a record contract, Tripplett to what was a record contract for Bills DTs at the time, or Robert Royal to a team record TE contract, or Langston Walker, ... yawn, ... I could go on for half a page here.  All of that has been well documented in the past however.  (See archives)

Fans, Whatever Their Profession, are in the Wrong Business

Buffalo Bills Fans, Whatever Their Profession, are  in the Wrong Business

As Miles exclaims to Joel in the '80s movie Risky Business while the two are on a stakeout of sorts, "great idea Joel, where else can you get a cup of hot chocolate for $4.50!," where else but in football can you leave a skid mark the length of a football field and get paid $7.5 million to cease and desist?

Buffalo Bills Circus at One Bills Drive Continues:  Bills Should Just Put Up a Big Top!

The latest buffoonery continues at One Bills Drive and Negligent Owner Stadium.  The talk is now over Michael Vick coming to Buffalo.  Who knows if this is anything more than rumor at this point, but who cares.  What could possibly top that, Claribel the Clown doing a half-time show on a mini-bicycle with horns and a special commemorative Bills hat shaped like a dunce cap?

Buffalo Bills Midseason Comments:  A Clinic Debacle; Cheap Wins; Ocho Wonder

As a fellow Bills fan once told me, he knew he was in trouble at the wedding reception that he went to when each table there had a bowl of applesauce with a spoon in it as the centerpiece.  So too, when your big hurrahs on offense are your Punter-Draw play or Punter-Rollout, then you know you are in trouble.  Poetic justice for this organization would be for the Bills to win 6 more games purely on luck as two of three games have been won thus far and thereby generating "improvement" keeping Jauron around and seeing Wilson extend him.

Bills Fans and Season Ticket Holders are Disgusted, ... But Why?

Buffalo Bills Bills Fans and Season Ticket Holders are Disgusted, ... But Why?

It was all going to be different with TO in town, a well past prime NFL persona-non-grata WR.  Even if the team finished .500 TO would light things up and make football in Buffalo exciting.  Jason Peters was really an overpaid stiff.  The front office did a great thing by getting rid of the grossly overpaid Derrick Dockery, ... whom they grossly overpaid!  Since when does one get credit for cleaning up one's own expensive mess!  And a mess this is.
